About Rohri.net
Rohri.net is an independent digital archive and heritage research initiative dedicated to documenting the history, archaeology, and cultural landscape of Rohri, Ancient Aror (Alor), Bukkur Island, and the surrounding Indus Valley corridor in Sindh, Pakistan.
Founded to provide an authoritative, fact-checked reference point for historians, travelers, and cultural researchers, Rohri.net curates historical records, academic literature, photographic documentation, and local oral traditions across northern Sindh.
Our Editorial & Documentation Mission
- Preserving Ancient Aror: Documenting the ruins of Sindh's ancient capital, the reign of Raja Dahir, the 8th-century Arab conquest, and the geological diversion of the Indus River.
- Sufi & Sacred Heritage: Chronicling the historic shrines of Rohri, including Sateen Jo Astaan (Tomb of the Seven Sisters), War Mubarak, and the riverine sanctuaries of Khwaja Khizr / Zinda Pir.
- Colonial & Modern Engineering: Archiving the history of the Lansdowne Bridge (1889), Ayub Arch Bridge (1962), and the Sukkur Barrage.
- Prehistoric Rohri Hills: Providing insights into the Paleolithic flint and chert quarry complexes that predate the Indus Civilization.
Research Standards & Attribution
All historical profiles on Rohri.net are cross-referenced with primary archaeological surveys, British Library India Office archives, academic monographs (including works by H.T. Lambrick, M.B. Pithawalla, and N.G. Majumdar), and verified local field investigations.
Where local legends or oral folklore differ from archaeological findings, we explicitly distinguish between formal record and living tradition.
